Crossword Genius

Press employee, sort with dog in tow (10)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

typesetter

'press employee' is the definition.
(someone setting type for a printing press)

'sort with dog in tow' is the wordplay.
'sort' becomes 'type' (type is a kind of sort).
'with' is a charade indicator (letters next to each other).
'dog in tow' becomes 'setter' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'type'+'setter'='TYPESETTER'

(Other definitions for typesetter that I've seen before include "Old newspaper producer" , "whose work will leave a lasting impression?" , "Printing expert" , "Former newspaper employee" , "Compositor" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
