Printed letters or noted manuscript (3)
I believe the answer is:
ems
'printed letters' is the definition.
'ems' can be an answer for 'letters' (I've seen this in another clue). I am not certain of the 'printed' bit.
'noted manuscript' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'manuscript' could be 'ms' (abbreviation for manuscript) and 'ms' is present in the answer.
A single letter 'e' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'or' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for ems that I've seen before include "German spa; print measures" , "Units of print measure" , "spaces at the printing house" , "Units used in printing" , "Printers' measures" .)
