Proving position is not right (7,3)
I believe the answer is:
bearing out
'proving' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both to do with fundamental existence as well as being present participle verbs.
Maybe they are linked in a way I don't understand?
'position is not right' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'position' could be 'bearing' (I've seen this before) and 'bearing' is found within the answer.
'not' could be 'o' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'o' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ut' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
