Crossword Genius

Pub: get value for money? (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

bargain

'value for money?' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'pub get' is the wordplay.
'pub' becomes 'bar' (both are drinking establishments).
'get' becomes 'gain' (gaining is a kind of getting).
'bar'+'gain'='BARGAIN'

(Other definitions for bargain that I've seen before include "Cheap acquisition" , "Barter, negotiate" , "Advantageous purchase" , "Great deal!" , "Count on" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
