Put in — or put up — pleasing dispatch in chair? (11)
I believe the answer is:
electrocute
'chair?' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both to do with social activities as well as being verbs in their base form.
Maybe they are linked in a way I don't understand?
'put in or put up pleasing dispatch' is the wordplay.
'put in' becomes 'elect' (I've seen this in another clue).
'put up' shows that the letters should be reversed in order.
'pleasing dispatch' becomes 'cute' (I can't explain this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'or' reversed gives 'ro'.
'elect'+'ro'+'cute'='ELECTROCUTE'
'in' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for electrocute that I've seen before include "overcharge?" , "Kill using electricity" , "Shock greatly!" , "Kill, injure by a shock" , "end with a shock?" .)
