I believe the answer is:

daunt

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'put off' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'sally perhaps having a dizzy head' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'sally' could be 'aunt' (Aunt Sally, traditional game) and 'aunt' is present in the answer.
A single letter 'd' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for daunt that I've seen before include "Discourage" , "Make (someone) apprehensive" , "Cause to feel intimidated" , "Frighten, intimidate" , "Cow" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
