I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'put' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both to do with contact as well as being verbs in their base form.
Perhaps they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'on a very loud baseball team' is the wordplay.
'on' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'very loud' becomes 'ff' (musical abbreviation).
'baseball team' becomes 'ix' (I can't explain this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'a'+'ff' is 'aff'.
'aff'+'ix'='AFFIX'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for affix that I've seen before include "Glue" , "Fasten (to something)" , "Append" , "Attach" , "Join" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
