Maybe there's an association between them I don't understand?

I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'some' could be 'a' and 'a' is found within the answer.
'down' could be 'lying' (I've seen this before) and 'lying' is located in the remaining letters.
The remaining letters 'mine' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
