Putting the fear into flying (5)
I believe the answer is:
awing
'flying' is the definition.
(rare adverb, sometimes spelled a-wing)
'putting the fear into' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'into' could be 'in' and 'in' is found within the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

(Other definitions for awing that I've seen before include "Causing dread" , "making an impression" , "Creating reverence" , "inspiring with dread" , "Inspiring reverence" .)
