Queen's made-to-measure item? (5)
I believe the answer is:
ruler
'queen's' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'made-to-measure item?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'measure' could be 'rule' (rule is a kind of measure) and 'rule' is present in the answer.
A single letter 'r' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for ruler that I've seen before include "Measuring strip" , "person holding sway?" , "Governor or drawing stick" , "Aid to drawing straight lines" , "Person in charge of country" .)
