Questions cautiously without any noise (6,3)
I believe the answer is:
sounds out
'questions' is the definition.
(sounding out is a kind of questioning)
'cautiously without any noise' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'noise' could be 'sound' (I've seen this in another clue) and 'sound' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for sounds out that I've seen before include "questions" , "Canvasses" .)
