Quote or mention as something to see (4)
I believe the answer is:
cite
'quote' is the definition.
(I know that quote can be written as cite)
'mention as something to see' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'something' could be 'it' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'it' is found within the answer.
'see' could be 'c' (the word for the letter, according to Chambers) and 'c' is found in the answer.
A single letter 'e' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'or' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for cite that I've seen before include "Make reference to" , "Quote as authority" , "Quote as an example or in support" , "Use quotations" , "Summon - quote" .)
