Crossword Genius

R&A 'links'? Wrong area in country (3,5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

sri lanka

'country' is the definition.
(Sri Lanka is an example)

'ra 'links'? wrong area' is the wordplay.
'wrong' indicates anagramming the letters.
'area' becomes 'a' (maths abbreviation).
'ra'+'links'='ralinks'
'ralinks' with letters rearranged gives 'srilank'.
'srilank'+'a'='SRI LANKA'

'in' acts as a link.

(Other definitions for sri lanka that I've seen before include "Island country by India" , ""The teardrop of India"" , "Former Ceylon" , "Island country in the Indian Ocean" , "Country off the southeast coast of India" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
