Rats! Maybe fellow sent wrong order (7)
I believe the answer is:
rodents
'rats' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both animals as well as being plural nouns.
Perhaps you can see an association between them that I can't see?
'fellow sent wrong order' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
an anagram of 'sent' is 'ents' which is within the answer.
'order' could be 'o' (abbreviation e.g. in British honours OM, OBE etc.) and 'o' is present in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'maybe' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for rodents that I've seen before include "Mice, squirrels etc" , "Animals that gnaw" , "Eg. rats" , "Guinea pigs, hamsters etc" , "Eg, mice" .)
