Reached victory during rout of raider (7)
I believe the answer is:
arrived
'reached' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both to do with motion as well as being past participle verbs.
Perhaps you can see an association between them that I don't see?
'victory during rout of raider' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'victory' could be 've' (VE is short for Victory in Europe) and 've' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for arrived that I've seen before include "A driver (anag.)" , "completed the journey" , "Reached a destination" , "Came" .)
