Reason poles are found in a place like York? (5)
I believe the answer is:
sense
'reason' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'poles are found in a place like york?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'poles' could be 'ns' (north and south poles) and 'ns' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'see' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for sense that I've seen before include "Be vaguely aware of" , "Purport" , "Meaning of a word or expression" , "Reason; perceive" , "Realistic attitude" .)
