Reasonable Oscar discovered in market, removed (4,3)
I believe the answer is:
took out
'removed' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both related to change as well as being past participle verbs.
Perhaps there's a link between them I don't understand?
'reasonable oscar discovered in market' is the wordplay.
'reasonable' becomes 'ok'.
'oscar' becomes 'O' (phonetic alphabet: alpha, bravo, charlie etc.).
'discovered in' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'market' becomes 'tout' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'ok'+'o'='oko'
'oko' placed inside 'tout' is 'TOOK OUT'.
Can you help me to learn more?
I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
