Reclining, take a pew and mug for aperitif (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

pastis

'aperitif' is the definition.

'reclining take a pew and mug' is the wordplay.
'reclining' says the letters should be written in reverse (recline can mean to move back).
'take a pew' becomes 'sit' (I've seen this in another clue).
'and' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'mug' becomes 'sap'.
'sit'+'sap'='sitsap'
'sitsap' reversed gives 'PASTIS'.

'for' is the link.

(Other definitions for pastis that I've seen before include "Aniseed aperitif" , "Aniseed-flavour aperitif" , "Rectangular" , "Aniseed-flavoured aperitif" , "Alcoholic drink flavoured with aniseed" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
