Regular -- and what one wears? (7)
I believe the answer is:
uniform
'regular' is the definition.
(similar in meaning)
'what one wears?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'one' could be 'un' (northern English dialect form of 'one') and 'un' is present in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'and' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for uniform that I've seen before include "Unvarying kind of costume" , "Identifying clothing" , "Constant; outfit" , "what soldier wears?" , "Alike all over" .)
