Crossword Genius

Regularly read idea from Norse folklore (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

edda

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'norse folklore' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot see how one could define the other.

'regularly read idea' is the wordplay.
'regularly' indicates alternate letters (regularly take one letter, leave next etc.).
'read'+'idea'='readidea'
The alternate letters of 'readidea' are 'EDDA'.

'from' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for edda that I've seen before include "Old Icelandic book" , "Norse poem collection" , "series of stories" , "Old Scandinavian book of poetry, etc" , "book previously" .)

I've seen this clue in The Hindu.
