Release harvest bundle, did you say? (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

bail

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'release' is the definition.
(I have seen 'Conditional release' mean 'bail' so perhaps 'release' could also mean 'bail')

I cannot understand how the rest of the clue works.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for bail that I've seen before include "One of two on the stumps" , "may be jumped" , "Scoop water out of (a boat)" , "Temporary release of the accused - wicket crosspiece" , "Sum of money guaranteeing the accused's return to court" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
