Religious place or two round ancient city? (6)
I believe the answer is:
church
'religious place' is the definition.
'church' can be an answer for 'place' (I have seen 'Place of worship ' mean 'church' so perhaps 'place' could also mean 'church'). I am not sure about the 'religious' bit.
'two round ancient city?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'city?' could be 'ur' (ancient Sumerian city state) and 'ur' is located in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'or' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for church that I've seen before include "House of worship" , "Ecclesiastical building" , "fold" , "Body professing common creed" , "A building for Christian worship" .)
