Render armless (6)
I believe the answer is:
disarm
'render armless' is the definition.
I can't tell whether this defines the answer.
'render' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'render' could be 'arm' (arming is a kind of rendering) and 'arm' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'dis' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for disarm that I've seen before include "Take away weapons or make less angry" , "Render defenceless" , "Pacify" , "Take away weapons or win over" , "Charm, win over" .)
