Repository for service clothing (6)
I believe the answer is:
vestry
'repository' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both man-made objects as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe you can see a link between them that I don't see?
'service clothing' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'clothing' could be 'vest' (vest is a kind of clothing) and 'vest' is found within the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'for' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for vestry that I've seen before include "Part of church used as an office" , "Parochial meeting-room in church" , "Robing room" , "Church sacristy" , "Church room where clergy dress themselves" .)
