Reserved centre table beside tree. Almost at capacity (7)
I believe the answer is:
bashful
'reserved' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'tree almost at capacity' is the wordplay.
'tree' becomes 'bash' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'almost' means to remove the last letter (most of the word but not all of it).
'at capacity' becomes 'full' (I've seen this in another clue).
'full' with its final letter taken away is 'ful'.
'bash'+'ful'='BASHFUL'
'centre table beside' acts as a link.
I am not very happy about this link. Some or all of it may be part of another bit of the clue.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for bashful that I've seen before include "Neither Happy, Sneezy, Dopey, Grumpy, Sleepy nor Doc!" , "Shy, easily embarrassed" , "Dwarf" , "Doc's shy pal" , "One of Disney's dwarves" .)
