Rich intellect Lawrence possessed (6)

I believe the answer is:
minted
'rich' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'intellect lawrence possessed' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'lawrence' could be 'te' (initials of TE Lawrence aka Lawrence of Arabia) and 'te' is present in the answer.
'intellect' could be 'mind' (synonyms) and 'mind' is located in the remaining letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for minted that I've seen before include "Coined" , "Struck (coins)" , "Rich" , "Manufactured coins" .)
