Crossword Genius

Royal symbols from Algeria (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

regalia

'royal symbols' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'from algeria' is the wordplay.
'from' is an anagram indicator (the anagram comes from the same letters).
'algeria' with letters rearranged gives 'REGALIA'.

(Other definitions for regalia that I've seen before include "Crown, sceptre etc used at a coronation" , "Orb and sceptre etc" , "Royal trappings" , "Royal insignia" , "Ceremonial robes" .)

I've seen this clue in The Globe and Mail.
