Rudeness when there's a bit of a pile-up (3)
I believe the answer is:
lip
'rudeness' is the definition.
(lip can informally mean insolence or disrespect)
'a bit of a pile-up' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'bit' could be 'i' (resembles 1, a binary digit or bit) and 'i' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'lp' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'when there's' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for lip that I've seen before include "Brim" , "Edge; impudence" , "sauciness" , "Rim; impertinence" , "Edge, rim" .)
