Running away, knight enters hotel abroad in the morning (2,3,3)
I believe the answer is:
on the lam
'running' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'away knight enters hotel abroad in the morning' is the wordplay.
'away knight' becomes 'n' (chess abbreviation. I am not sure about the 'away' bit.).
'enters' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'abroad' indicates an anagram.
'in the morning' becomes 'am' (AM on a clock).
'hotel' with letters rearranged gives 'othel'.
'n' inserted inside 'othel' is 'onthel'.
'onthel'+'am'='ON THE LAM'
