Rushing madly round aircraft steps, then getting on (9)
I believe the answer is:
rampaging
'rushing madly' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are present participle verbs, I don't understand how one could define the other.
'round aircraft steps then getting on' is the wordplay.
'round aircraft steps' becomes 'ramp' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'then' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'getting on' becomes 'aging' (get on can mean to get older).
'ramp'+'aging'='RAMPAGING'
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for rampaging that I've seen before include "Running riot" , "Rushing wildly around" .)
