I believe the answer is:

burlap

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'sacking' is the definition.
(I know that burlap is a type of sacking)

'crony create friction the wrong way' is the wordplay.
'crony' becomes 'pal' (synonyms).
'create friction' becomes 'rub' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'the wrong way' says the letters should be written in reverse.
'pal'+'rub'='palrub'
'palrub' written backwards gives 'BURLAP'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for burlap that I've seen before include "Coarse cloth made of jute or hemp" , "Coarse cloth used in sacks" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
