Crossword Genius

Satellite many misinterpreted to have jagged edge all round (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

ganymede

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'satellite' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'many misinterpreted to have jagged edge all round' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
an anagram of 'many' is 'anym' which is within the answer.
an anagram of 'edge' is 'gede' which is within the left over letters.
No letters remain.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for ganymede that I've seen before include "heavenly body seen by Jupiter" , "Deny game, oddly, of the cupbearer to the gods" , "Cupbearer of Greek gods - largest moon of Jupiter" , "Beautiful cupbearer to the gods" , "One of Jupiter's moons" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
