Ross

I believe the answer is:

hyena

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'scavenger's' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'triumphant exclamation pocketing money' is the wordplay.
'triumphant exclamation' becomes 'ha' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'pocketing' indicates putting letters inside.
'money' becomes 'yen' (Japanese currency).
'ha' placed around 'yen' is 'HYENA'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for hyena that I've seen before include "Laughing mammal?" , "Carnivore with sloping body" , "One laughs loud" , "Carrion-eating, dog-like animal" , "Predatory dog-like animal, makes sound like laughing" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
