Crossword Genius

Scent wood inside solid figure (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

cologne

'scent' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'wood inside solid figure' is the wordplay.
'wood' becomes 'log' (a log is a piece of wood).
'inside' indicates putting letters inside.
'solid figure' becomes 'cone' (I've seen this before).
'log' placed inside 'cone' is 'COLOGNE'.

(Other definitions for cologne that I've seen before include "German river port" , "Perfumed liquid made of oils and alcohol" , "Foreign city" , "Scented toilet water" , "Eau de _____" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
