Score of two under par for a hole in golf (5)
I believe the answer is:
eagle
'score of two under par' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'hole in golf' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'golf' could be 'g' (phonetic alphabet: alpha, bravo, charlie etc.) and 'g' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'eale' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'for a' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for eagle that I've seen before include "Bird - emblem of power" , "Two under in 20 across" , "drugs with silver left inside" , "Aglee (anag.)" , "Avian symbol of power" .)
