Scraps with, punches about a spell (9)
I believe the answer is:
leftovers
'scraps' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'punches about a spell' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'about' could be 'over' (both can mean around) and 'over' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'lefts' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'with' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for leftovers that I've seen before include "Uneaten scraps" , "Remains" , "survivors" .)
