Seat of power lost on purpose, we hear (6)
I believe the answer is:
throne
'seat of power' is the definition.
(as in a monarch's throne)
'lost on purpose we hear' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'on' is within the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for throne that I've seen before include "Seat of a ruler" , "Bishop's chair" , "Seat of monarch" , "Chair of state" , "Seat of authority" .)
