Crossword Genius

Second drink for pig (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

swine

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'pig' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'second drink' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'second' could be 's' (common abbreviation) and 's' is located in the answer.
'drink' could be 'wine' (wine is a kind of drink) and 'wine' is present in the answer.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'for' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for swine that I've seen before include "Contemptible person; pigs" , "Archaic pigs, Gadarene in Bible" , "Pig; unpleasant person" , "such a difficult thing" , "See 9" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
