See this, turning redder? (10)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

palindrome

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'this turning redder?' is the definition.
I know that 'redder' relates to this answer. I also know that both the answer and definition are singular nouns

'see' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'see' could be 'rome' (the Holy See or See of Rome is home to the pope) and 'rome' is found in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for palindrome that I've seen before include "E.g. mum, dad" , "Word as kayak, refer" , "Mum, say" , "Word(s) reading the same forward and back" , "Bob, perhaps" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
