Crossword Genius

Ross

I believe the answer is:

press charges

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'seek justice perhaps for pulp' is the definition.
I know nothing about this answer so I can't tell whether this works.

'rush and one direction' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'rush' could be 'charge' (charging is a kind of rushing) and 'charge' is found within the answer.
'direction' could be 's' (S is an example) and 's' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'press' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for press charges that I've seen before include "prosecute" , "Intend taking action" , "to take legal action?" .)

I've seen this clue in the Irish Times and the Irish Times (Crosaire).
