Send down notes, to me indirectly (6)
I believe the answer is:
demote
'send down' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both to do with social activities as well as being verbs in their base form.
Maybe they are linked in a way I don't understand?
'notes to me indirectly' is the wordplay.
'notes' becomes 'de' (two musical notes).
'to me indirectly' becomes 'mote' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'de'+'mote'='DEMOTE'
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for demote that I've seen before include "Put down in rank" , "Downgrade" , "Relegate" , "Move to lower status" , "Move down in rank" .)
