I believe the answer is:

syndrome

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'set of symptoms' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'unknown new doctor found in a few' is the wordplay.
'unknown' becomes 'y' (algebra).
'new doctor' becomes 'ndr' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'found in' indicates putting letters inside.
'a few' becomes 'some' (both can mean a small amount of something).
'y'+'ndr'='yndr'
'yndr' inserted into 'some' is 'SYNDROME'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for syndrome that I've seen before include "Set of linked symptoms" , "Combination of symptoms" , "Complex of concurrent things" , "Group of symptoms usually occurring together" , "Group of linked symptoms" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
