Sharp, male wordplayer? (7)
I believe the answer is:
pungent
'sharp' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'male wordplayer?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'male' could be 'gent' (gent is a kind of male) and 'gent' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'pun' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for pungent that I've seen before include "Penetrating" , "Acrid; sarcastic (humour)" , "With a fifteen ac smell/taste" , "Having a strong smell" , "Smelly" .)
