Sharpen the new version, putting point in front (4)
I believe the answer is:
whet
'sharpen' is the definition.
(I know that whet is a more specific form of sharpen)
'the new version putting point in front' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
an anagram of 'the' is 'het' which is located in the answer.
'point' could be 'w' (West) and 'w' is located in the answer.
No letters remain.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for whet that I've seen before include "Sharpen - stimulate" , "Arouse" , "Hone" , "Sharpen by grinding" , "Make more acute" .)
