I believe the answer is:

script

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'writing' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'shed first tear in court over' is the wordplay.
'first' indicates taking the first letters.
'tear' becomes 'rip' (ripping is a kind of tearing).
'in' indicates putting letters inside.
'court over' becomes 'ct' (I am not sure about the 'over' bit.**).
The initial letter of 'shed' is 's'.
'rip' going into 'ct' is 'cript'.
's'+'cript'='SCRIPT'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for script that I've seen before include "letters" , "Handwriting, play text" , "Text of play, film etc" , "Hand" , "Performance text" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
