Should one inspire or entertain? (5)
I believe the answer is:
amuse
'entertain?' is the definition.
(amuse can mean to entertain or divert)
'should one inspire' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'one' could be 'a' (a thing is one thing) and 'a' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'muse' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'or' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for amuse that I've seen before include "Divert or entertain mildly" , "interest" , "Pleasantly occupy" , "Tickle" , "Recreate" .)
