Singular garment. (Silver, of course) (4,4)
I believe the answer is:
long john
'singular garment silver' is the definition.
'long john' can be an answer for 'silver' (I've seen this in another clue). I am not certain of the 'singular garment' bit.
'of course' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'of' could be 'o' and 'o' is found within the answer.
'course' could be 'n' and 'n' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for long john that I've seen before include "Villain in 7 6" , "Pirate in 12 2" .)
