Slightly damaged the pasture? (6)
I believe the answer is:
grazed
'slightly damaged' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are past participle verbs, I can't understand how one could define the other.
'pasture?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'pasture?' could be 'graze' (synonyms) and 'graze' is found in the answer.
A single letter 'd' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'the' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for grazed that I've seen before include "Fed on pasture" , "Slightly hurt" , "Cut; ate grass" , "Ate grass like cattle or sheep" , "Injured" .)
