Sniffed at, being incensed? (7)
I believe the answer is:
scented
'incensed?' is the definition.
(incensing is a kind of scenting)
'sniffed at being' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'being' could be 'ted' (Ted is an example) and 'ted' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for scented that I've seen before include "Having pleasant smell" , "Perfumed" , "sensed" , "Having a fragrance" , "Fragrant" .)
