Crossword Genius

So long, as well, endless strips of pasta to be consumed (6-2)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

toodle-oo

'so long' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'as well endless strips of pasta to be consumed' is the wordplay.
'as well' becomes 'too' (both can mean 'also').
'endless' says to take the centre.
'strips of pasta' becomes 'noodles' (type of pasta).
'to be consumed' indicates putting letters inside.
The central letters of 'noodles' are 'oodle'.
'too' placed around 'oodle' is 'TOODLE-OO'.

(Other definitions for toodle-oo that I've seen before include "Bye-bye!" , "See you later!" , "Cheerio" , "Farewell (old inf.)" , "Goodbye (dated)" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
